Raise your hand if you love exploring the Presidio Park in San Francisco! Finding unique outdoor locations for portrait sessions can be a struggle for many photographers, lots of locations become populated and overcrowded making for a really impersonal experience. I’ve spent hours exploring and photographing in the Presidio on walks with my dog to find the perfect little spots for beautiful portraits. What I loved about photographing the Martin family is that originally neither parent planned to be in the portraits. Both mom and dad were nervous about having their portraits taken and wanted the focus to remain on their daughter. Instead of asking both parents to stand and pose I decided to create some little interactive moments for both parents to engage in with their daughter. This ultimately led the parents to feel comfortable in-front of the camera and those moments where turned into some of the Martin’s favorite images!
