I have years of experience of photographing these tiny humans; I love creating a peaceful, stress-free environment. It’s a completely magical experience.
It's a gift to document your growing family.
I think of newborn pictures being the equivalent of having wedding photos.
It’s cliche but they are truly only this little for such a short period. You will look back someday and remember meeting this tiny human for the first time, getting to know their coos and cries and how to care for them. You will remember their tiny tiny toes, little hands gripping around your finger, the way they grunted in their sleep or made that sweet milk drunk side grin.
Unlike most weddings, this is a highly personal and intimate time. Newborn pictures are a way to commemorate this time nesting in together and the start of your journey into parenthood.
This is your moment to slow down, reflect, breathe, and be together. You will cherish these images for the rest of your life.
The Images
I love nothing more than sitting and chatting with new parents about their experience so far. It's about giving you space to process and talk candidly. When I say I love new parents, I mean it. I love bringing a sense of “you are doing this right” and “you are doing a good job” to you, because at this point you may have not heard that yet and you're are truly in the trenches. I'm here for you.
Make it fun.
Make it safe.
The comfort and safety of your family is an essential core value in running my business. Working with young babies, I have always taken health and safety very serious. I’ve even consulted with healthcare professionals regarding safe handling of newborns while on set. During COVID-19, I learned a lot about taking additional measures to protect both your family and my own.
Below are a few of my precautions:
Sanitizing all camera gear, props, equipment (etc.) within 24 hours before and after each photoshoot.
Properly washing hands (or using hand sanitizer if outdoors) upon arrival for a photoshoot.
Studio space is deep sanitized after and before clients.
All newborn props are deep sanitized and stored properly between shoots.
Sanitizing:
HEPA air filter in studio.
Temperature checks the day of photoshoot and symptom monitoring of both myself and family members in my home before interacting with newborns.
Being fully vaccinated (including COVID19, flu and TDAP).
Including liability waivers in every contract outlining my protocols.
Studio Safety:
Extra Considerations for Newborns
I take every precaution possible working with newborns. I’m always upfront and clear about my standards for health and safety and encourage parents that regardless of who they choose as their photographer that they should ask these questions.
I have knowledge in looking for proper signs of distress in infants, proper precautions and procedures when working on a studio set with infants, how to safely pose a baby, proper temperature control, how to check for baby overheating or being too cold, how to soothe a baby properly, cues to pay attention to for hungry babies etc. I never rush newborn sessions; I don't set time caps because I think safety is first and if it takes longer then it takes longer, I never want to rush. We stop during photoshoots as many times as necessary to feed, soothe, clean, comfort etc. Some photographers require things like "bringing a pumped bottle" or push pacifier use for calming babies. I will never ever do these things. I always respect and listen to the parent's lead.
I keep my nails trimmed extra short and no polishes that can chip. I ALWAYS take my shoes off entering a families home and thoroughly wash my hands immediately upon entering the home and multiple times through the session. I would NEVER bring my child to a photoshoot; I would reschedule before ever bringing any avoidable germs into a home. I go as far as having registered Postpartum / Neonatal nurses and registered doulas evaluate my processes to ensure best safety practices.
A photo session can wait a few days, be rescheduled or if necessary be outsourced or refunded easily if I where to become sick. I would NEVER value the dollar of a photo session over an infants health. Health and safety comes first. ALWAYS.
Ask your photographer the tough questions- never feel ashamed to be a tough momma bear!

FAQ
You can reach out anytime after first trimester, ideally at least a few weeks before your estimated due date (end of second trimester/start of third). Some clients slide onto my calendar last minute and I do my best to accommodate.
When should I book my newborn session/ reach out to book?
It depends on which package you select! Know that I’m never trying to withhold photos from you, they serve no purpose sitting on my hard drives. If you woud like to purchase or review additional images after your gallery is delivered you are always welcome to.
How many pictures will I receive?
While I offer newborn sessions for anytime within the first few months after baby is born, there are different things to expect at different “ages” of babies. If you are looking for cute little squishy poses where baby is peacefully sleeping then the ideal age is within the first two weeks. The “older” you newborn is the more alert they may be and less likely to be posed (which is A-OKAY and awake wiggly expressive babies are equally as adorable as snoozy relaxed fresh babies!).
What is the ideal age of a baby for a newborn shoot?
Lots of factors go into this depending on your baby’s temperament and what kind of photoshoot we are doing. Typically lifestyle photoshotos take about 1-2 hours while studio style photoshoots can take 4 or so hours. Mainly this is because we never want to rush for safety reasons. I never set a time-cap or want you to feel rushed, the session takes however long it takes. I give plenty of time to soothe feed, clean, and set up for pictures.
How long do photoshoots take?
