Follow your heart.

From life happenings to babies to coffee and beyond, it’s just a tiny peek into the daily life of a Bay Area newborn photographer.

Instagram post 18189904897051086 We used a scrap piece of wallpaper from Margots nursery and a few fresh floral pieces for a “baby flat lay” and ✨magic✨. Also, this is hands down my favorite bowl for newborn pictures. See if you can spy it again in my grid 👀.
Instagram post 18154231723114649 Oh hey, it's me and my squishy baby before she had hair. I am 100% a broken record, but I can't believe how much she has grown. Work has started to take on a new pace, and I'm feeling pretty hopeful about it. Currently, I'm in the office on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and spending solo time with my little on Mondays and Wednesdays.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Before having a baby I often felt like I lived to work (I loved, and still love, my job!). After having a baby I faced a major reprioritization. I've been reminded that I should be working so I can live, not the other way around. I'm learning to set clear boundaries on my days when I'm with Charlie and put work aside instead of dividing my attention.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you are a parent and feeling the pressure to divide your time and wear all the hats at once, I feel you. I know the struggle. I'm wishing for you to find a happy balance soon, even if that balance changes shape daily. We won't get these days back with our little ones, I hope you can soak up every moment you get.

Anyone else feel the lift of some serious emotional weight off their shoulders? 🙌
Instagram post 18125901763160916 Happy Friday! It's another weekend full of yard work for us. The first phase of our backyard makeover is almost complete! It's been a few weeks of hauling, shoveling, drilling, hammering, sawing, and a whole lot more hard work. This weekend we are laying the final haul of sod, putting in some sand ground coverage, and starting to prep our veggie beds for spring. I think looking back we are going to feel damn proud that we did this project completely on our own. Should I share a before and after on my insta-stories?!
Instagram post 17883539728957925 A rising tide lifts all boats 🌊 we’ve been trying to keep afloat through some rough waters in the last year. Last night, after a little hiatus, we pulled together with our neighbors and hosted our first @risingtidesociety meet up of the year. I’m looking forward to joining forces with the Oakland & East Bay chapters of Tuesday’s Together so we can bring together community in the Bay Area. I know we need community now more than ever.
Instagram post 17886208747938486 Today is my first "Monday" after the new year. Monday on a Tuesday? That's my current reality working around part-time childcare during the pandemic. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Finding the perfect childcare scenario for your family is a juggle in a normal world, add in the pandemic and childcare is the ultimate obstacle. For many working parents, childcare can come with a mixed bag of emotions. Finding someone to care for the person you love for most in the world is hard! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Having been a nanny for 10+ years before jumping fully into my photography career, I had some hangups on what I wanted in childcare. Ultimately we decided having a nanny would be the safest option for me to continue working with newborn clients. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There is NO wrong answer when it comes to childcare, only the option that works best for you and your family. What are your hangups on childcare right now? What are some specifics you looked for when searching for childcare?
