Follow your heart.

From life happenings to babies to coffee and beyond, it’s just a tiny peek into the daily life of a Bay Area newborn photographer.

Three - two - one - 🛫
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Wednesday we flew into Texas, dropped the kiddos off with their grandparents, and hit the road for a weekend without the kids. We woke up this morning in Fayetteville, Arkansas (our college alma mater town) with a house full of friends. Excited for a weekend with a little nostalgia as we head to a football game and enjoy some child free time. 🙌🏈🐗
It was four years ago today we became parents. Cha It was four years ago today we became parents. Charlie, my little love, you changed our world. We love her endless spirit, playful energy, the way she feels things to the fullest, her nurturing heart and love for nature.

We spent the morning scrolling through photos of Charlie as a newborn and over the years. It’s such a joy that I can create these kinds of memories for my clients. I know that every parent will reminisce over them for years and years to come. ❤️

Happy 4th birthday Charlie! Thank you @ameliaprotiva for this first photo and Charlie’s birth portraits- we spent this morning swooning over them once again.
At the heart of studio work is a lot of creativity At the heart of studio work is a lot of creativity, but also simplicity. Many parents coming into photoshoots groggy eyed and overtired with an unmeasurable number of triumphs and challenges happening on the daily. There’s this magical moment during studio shoots where the white noise is shushing, heater is rolling, baby is snoozing, and it’s just me in my element photographing something so special yet simple- your baby. Parents get this moment to sit down and just soak in the moment watching their newborn being photographed. It’s peaceful, and calm, and it’s where so much magic happens in my work. This is one of my most favorite moments on the job.
It feels like yesterday and a century ago all at t It feels like yesterday and a century ago all at the same time that your head fit in the palms of our hands just like this. It was just the other day that I just held you, kissed your head a million times, and would stare at you for hours wondering who you will become. She’s only turning four, and I know there’s a lifetime more of growing to unfold, but I already feel the robbery of time.
Level ⬆️! Have a squirmy sibling who doesn’t Level ⬆️! Have a squirmy sibling who doesn’t want to be held in photos? Give them some autonomy by leveling up. By allowing big sister or brother to stand all on their own on a steps-tool or ottoman they gain a sense of control and are often more willing to participate in photos. To get kids excited I can call it a thrown, a stage, or a rocket platform. This also helps get everyone’s faces a little closer together which is great for an aesthetic and composure standpoint in portraits.

Have you done this with family photos? How did it workout for you?
I had the cutest date at lunch today 🥹. It is I had the cutest date at lunch today 🥹.

It is easy to get sucked into the hard parts of being self employed, but there is so much to love about it. Like midday walks, brunch with friends who are on mat leave, and setting your own schedule. Today I started my day by guzzling down a soup bowl full of coffee with a few friends and this squeeze muffin. This afternoon I spent time emailing, editing, and having a super inspiring call with another business owner. ✨ and now ✨ WEEKEND.
Q: “Do lifestyle pictures include solo pictures Q: “Do lifestyle pictures include solo pictures of my baby?”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A: YES! I get this question a lot. During lifestyle photoshoots we will spend some time photographing your newborn (or older kids!) alone. Just because we aren’t pulling out the entire studio, doesn’t mean we can’t get creative. Typically I use a few personal items from around your home (like your bed or some blankets on the floor) or I always have a simple floor mat we can use! While we won’t spend as much time focusing on getting a specific pose, it doesn’t mean these solo portraits aren’t absolutely stunning.
